Homeschool Hangout Poetry Blast

Children ages 8-12 are invited to write and share original poetry.

Film: Belle of Amherst
Monday, April 8, 7:00 p.m., Downtown Library
Julie Harris, as Emily Dickinson, recreates her Tony-Award-winning Broadway role in this filmed performance. Harris recites favorite poems and reads private letters. Enjoy humorous anecdotes about this reclusive American poet.

National Poem in a Pocket Day
Thursday, April 18, all day @ all TCPL libraries
Pick up a poem at any TCPL library. Take poems home for friends, neighbors, and family members.

2013 TCPL Poetry Contest Deadline -- Sunday, April 21, 5:00 p.m., all TCPL libraries
This is the final day to submit an original poem. Categories include: grades 6-8, grades 9-10, grades 11-12, poems by adults, and poems in Spanish. Entry forms and rules can be found on the 2013 TCPL Poetry Contest page.

Indiana Poet Laureate Karen Kovacik
Thursday, April 25, 7:00 p.m., Downtown Library
Karen Kovacik’s poems are described as “an amusement-park ride through world history and art.” The award-winning poet and IUPUI professor reads and shares insights about modern Indiana poets.

Open Mic Afternoon

Teen Poetry Open Mic Night
