Title:  Library Link Volunteer

Department:
  Outreach Services

Supervisor:  Outreach Services Librarian

Duties:  Library Link volunteers are matched with homebound customers with similar reading interests.  Volunteers select, deliver, and retrieve library materials monthly.

Skills:

-Good driver with knowledge of local area.
-Ability to make and meet scheduled appointments with patron.
-Ability to interact with patron compassionately.
-Willingness to select materials for customer.

Training:  Library Link volunteer will receive overview of program at the interview held at the library.  Volunteer will be shown how to use Novelist and check out and return procedures.

Hours:
  2 hours per month.  Visits are made monthly.

Title: Processing/Mending Volunteer

Department: Technical Services

Supervisor: Processing Leader

Duties: Place labels and covers on library materials. Mend worn or damaged items, and judge damage on items. May occasionally include computer tasks. Requires use of book tape, glue, scissors, and other sharp instruments such as an exacto knife.

Skills: Must be able to follow instructions accurately and work quietly around other workers. Must have good manual dexterity and fine motor coordination. Must be able to carry a ten-pound stack of books and maneuver a book cart (approximately 100 pounds) around the room.

Training: Training and monitoring will be done by the Processing Leader.

Hours: 4 or more hours per week.
